Yavuz Sultan Selim Mosque

As the name implies, the Sultan Selim Mosque is the mosque of Sultan Selim I, father of Suleiman the Magnificent, and was built in 1522.

It is located in the Fener district and offers a magnificent view of the Golden Horn. This probably also explains why the mosque is very popular, even though the sultan was very cruel at his time. The terrace is the ideal place for a picnic in good weather. In the interior, the tiles and the painted woodwork stand out the most.
