The synagogue dating from 1840 is located in La Virane, a neighborhood where Jews lived who were not very wealthy.
After many Jews moved away, the synagogue repeatedly struggled against its permanent shutdown. As a result, the synagogue was reopened after closures in 1980, 1994 and 1997.
The name of the synagogue means “House of Wonders” and is also a symbol that the house of prayer has defied adversity for decades.
