Dogançay Museum

Dogansçay Museum in Istanbul

Burhan Cahit Doğançay was an important artist of our time. His photographs form an entire archive and served as a basis for his paintings, whose mission is to document this era.

His works include numerous sculptures, photographs, graphics, drawings, paintings and Aubusson tapestries. His favorite medium was the collage. The influences of his travels through over 100 countries are often expressed in his works. In 2004 he founded the first contemporary art museum in Turkey. That’s why he bought a 150-year-old building in the Beyoğlu district in 1999. In addition to Doğançay’s significant works of art, paintings by his father Adil Doğançay are also exhibited, who was also a well-known painter and trained his son in art at an early age. Some of these early works can be found in a separate room.

Children can also discover their talents and develop skills in the museum’s training workshop. The power of imagination knows no limits.
