Before your hair transplant surgery in Turkey, you will be asked to send in pictures of your hair and your medical history. During an online consultation with your surgeon, you will talk about your expectations, your options, the risks and benefits of the procedure, as well as the aftercare.
Once you arrive in Istanbul, you will meet your medical consultant. Your surgeon will examine your scalp to determine the degree of hair loss. Together, you will decide how many grafts you need and which hair transplant method is best for your particular case.
The hair transplant is usually scheduled for the next day. Remember to come to the clinic on an empty stomach. A blood test will be performed and after another consultation you will be prepared for the procedure.
Hair transplantation is a cosmetic procedure performed under local anesthesia. Depending on the number of grafts required, the procedure can take between 6 and 8 hours. The procedure steps vary depending on the technique used. Generally, the first step in a regular FUE hair transplant is to extract donor hair from one or more areas of the body. Typically, the back of the scalp or the sides are chosen for this purpose.
After the surgeon has taken the largest possible number of these healthy hair follicles, also called grafts, from the donor site and placed them in a special Plasma solution, he or she creates tiny holes in the area plagued by hair loss in order to relocate the grafts there.
In almost all cases, you can be discharged the same day as the procedure. The next day, you will come back to the clinic for a final check-up, where your doctor will inform you about the follow-up care.
It is possible to continue with your normal daily life as usual but take it easy for at least 1 or 2 days after the procedure. For the first 2 or 3 days, you may see small pink dots. However, these will disappear within a week.
