Independent & Unbiased

For the first time, the Spanish Super Cup (Supercopa de España) comes to Istanbul: FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid and Real Sociedad play three matches in three of the city's biggest stadiums between 2 and 6 February 2027.

The tournament has been played in Saudi Arabia since 2020. In 2027 Saudi Arabia hosts the AFC Asian Cup on the same dates, so the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) chose Istanbul from seven bids. This guide covers the schedule, stadiums, tickets, transport and where to stay — plus what to see between matches.

The RFEF confirmed the full schedule at its official signing ceremony in Istanbul on 17 September 2026 (RFEF).

Note: the first announcement in August 2026 named the Atatürk Olympic Stadium as the venue. The September schedule replaced it with the three club stadiums above, so ignore older articles that still list Atatürk.

All matches start at 22:00 local time — metro lines run until around midnight, so plan your trip back in advance (see "Getting around" below).

2027 Spanish Super Cup Tickets

Tickets are sold only through the official tournament website supercopa2027.com, run by Fever for the RFEF.  Sale dates, prices and the presale waitlist are all published on that site.

  • Tickets are personal and non-transferable. Each ticket carries the holder's full name and passport number (Turkish ID for Turkish citizens). Bring the same original document: police check it at the entrance.
  • Maximum 4 tickets per user, and the buyer must be 18 or older. Children need their own ticket and ID; under-18s also need parental consent.
  • All sales are final and non-refundable. Tickets are emailed before the match; no need to print them.
  • Gates open 3 hours before kick-off, with no re-entry. Bags larger than A4, glass, cans, flares and selfie sticks are not allowed.
  • Avoid resale sites. They cannot guarantee a seat, and a ticket that is not in your name will not get you in.
  • Fan Zone: opens on final day (6 February), location to be confirmed.

The 3 stadiums and how to get there

Each match is in a different part of the city: one on the Asian side, one on the Bosphorus shore and one in the north of the European side. Public transport is the fastest way to reach all three on match nights; roads around the stadiums close or jam before kick-off. Travel times below are approximate.

Istanbul has two airports: Istanbul Airport (IST) on the European side and Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) on the Asian side.

Semi-final 1: Chobani Stadium (Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu), Kadıköy

Match-night tip: kick-off is 22:00 and matches end around midnight. Regular metro service stops around midnight; on Friday and Saturday nights a weekend night-metro service runs on major lines, which helps on final night (Saturday). For the semi-finals (Tuesday and Wednesday), check last departures in Moovit before you go, and expect long taxi queues after the match.

Getting around Istanbul during the Super Cup

The metro, tram, funicular and ferries connect all three stadiums with the main hotel areas. Three tools make it easy.

Istanbul rail system map with the three stadiums marked

The lines you will use most: M2 (Yenikapı – Taksim – Hacıosman, with the Seyrantepe branch for RAMS Park), T1 tram (Sultanahmet – Kabataş), F1 funicular (Taksim – Kabataş), M4 (Kadıköy – Sabiha Gökçen Airport), M11 (Istanbul Airport – Gayrettepe) and Marmaray (the rail tunnel under the Bosphorus to Söğütlüçeşme). See our Which metro line should tourists use? guide for details.

Plan your route with Moovit

Moovit Istanbul

We recommend Moovit, our official transport partner, for live journey planning on match day.

It shows real-time departures, transfers and walking directions to each stadium gate, and alerts you to service changes — useful when you need the last train back after a 22:00 kick-off.

Ride without a card: Istanbul Public Transport Pass

Istanbul Transport Card

Skip the ticket machines and top-up queues. The Istanbul Public Transport Pass is a digital QR ride pass you buy online and receive instantly by email — no physical card needed.

  • Price: €1.85 per ride online (regular €2.50)
  • Works on: T1 tram, F1 Taksim–Kabataş funicular, F2 Tünel, metro lines (incl. M2 to RAMS Park and M4 from Sabiha Gökçen) and city buses
  • How: scan the QR code at the gate; it works offline and is valid for 6 months
  • Best for match day: Sultanahmet → Tüpraş Stadium (T1), Taksim → RAMS Park (M2), SAW → Kadıköy (M4)

For Marmaray, Metrobus and ferries, use an Istanbulkart. Read our Istanbulkart guide for where to buy and top up.

Where to stay for the Spanish Super Cup

Stay in Beşiktaş or Taksim if you are going to more than one match: Tüpraş Stadium is walkable, RAMS Park is about 20 minutes on the M2, and the ferry takes you to Kadıköy. Choose Kadıköy if you are mainly there for Barcelona vs Atlético, and Vadistanbul or Levent if the final is your priority.

Where to Eat and Hang Out Before the Match

With 22:00 kick-offs, you have the whole evening for dinner and drinks near the stadium. February in Istanbul is cold and often rainy (around 5–10 °C), so pick places with indoor seating.

Before Barcelona vs Atlético (Kadıköy)

  • Kadıköy Çarşı (market streets): fish restaurants, meze shops and street food a few minutes from the ferry pier.
  • Kadife Sokağı ("Bar Street"): the busiest bar street on the Asian side, about 15 minutes' walk from the stadium.
  • Moda: seafront cafes and wine bars for a calmer dinner, then walk to the stadium along Bağdat Avenue.

Before Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid (Beşiktaş)

  • Beşiktaş Çarşı: the club's home turf, packed with meyhanes (Turkish taverns), kebab houses and student bars — the best pre-match atmosphere in the city.
  • Akaretler and Dolmabahçe: smarter restaurants in restored row houses, five minutes from the stadium.
  • Ortaköy: waterfront by the Bosphorus Bridge, famous for kumpir (stuffed potatoes); a short taxi or bus ride away.

Before the final (RAMS Park)

  • Vadistanbul: the shopping and dining complex next to the stadium has dozens of restaurants and cafes — the easiest option on final night.
  • Taksim, İstiklal Avenue and Karaköy: have dinner in the Asmalımescit or Nevizade meyhane streets, then take the M2 from Taksim to Seyrantepe (about 20 minutes).
  • Levent: modern restaurants around the business district, right on the M2 line.
