Artists’ Park (Sanatkârlar Parkı), also known as the Roman Park by locals (Roma Parkı), is more of a viewpoint than a park. However, it is a one-of-a-kind viewpoint.
The inconspicuous park is located in the trendy artists’ quarter Cihangir of the Beyoğlu district. It offers a really phenomenal glimpse into the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. With the Topkapı Palace, the neighboring Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque on the opposite side as well as the Asian shores of Kadıköy and Üsküdar, the ships and ferries on the Bosphorus look like a living painting. Together with the panorama of the Princes’ Islands, it forms the perfect setting.
During the summer months or when the weather is good, many young people and students come for a picnic, to stroll along in the park or to read a book, listen to music and relax. The small teahouse on site (çay bahçesi) offers a chance to relax with a glass of Turkish tea.
