The beautiful Beylerbeyi Palace is located on the Asian shore of Istanbul, north of the Bosphorus Bridge. It was built in 1865 on behalf of Sultan Abdülaziz under the supervision of the famous Ottoman architect Sarkis Balyan.

The palace served the sultans as a summer residence and it also hosted many foreign guests, including the Prince of Montenegro, the Shah of Persia, King Edward VIII, the wife of Napoleon III and the Empress Eugenié. With its two pavilions on the waterfront and its marble façade, the palace expresses a fanciful rococo. Lying in the middle of a magnolia garden, it seems to come from a dream world and is a real eye-catcher for Bosporus tours.

Visit this contemporary building of the Ottoman period, which combines art movements from East and West, and learn more about the Beylerbeyi Palace during a guided museum tour.
